It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Sugano Sensei the
past Sunday, August 29th.
This master, direct student of Morihei Ueshiba, O Sensei, succumbed to
multiple medical complications. His family and close students from
Australia were by his side at the end.
Borned on December 17th.,
1939, Sugano entered the
Aikikai Hombu Dojo
in 1959 as a direct student of
Morihei Ueshiba.
In 1965 he was appointed by O Sensei to introduce aikido in
Australia.
He remained there for 15 years and at the request of
Nobuyoshi Tamura
Sensei, Sugano went to
Europe
and stayed in
Belgium,
Luxembourg
and
France.
Since 1988 he had resided in
New York city
where co-instructs with
Yoshimitsu Yamada
Sensei, oru Director, at the
New York Aikikai.
On December, 2000, visit Argentina giving an important International
Seminar in where we have the opportunity of know him.
Yamada Sensei is in
Europe at present conducting a seminar and will be sending out his
personal message when he returns.
The world of aikido
has lost another of his biggest teachers.
